All About That Day--
Spend Time With Me--
Look to the Lord--
God Is FOR You
ALL ABOUT THAT DAY
While Jesus is being beaten by the Romans inside the courts, Peter is outside where, when confronted with his association with Jesus, he denies Him three times, just as Jesus had told him that he would. Appalled at himself and overcome with shame, Peter runs outside the gates of Jerusalem, where he falls on his knees, weeping bitterly. Imagine that inside the courts, everything freezes, and Jesus, bloodied, comes down off the whipping post and walks outside the city to where Peter is kneeling and weeping. Jesus stands behind him, looks at Peter lovingly, and sings this song over Peter while Peter, absorbed in his own shame, continues to weep quietly, unaware that the Lord is beside him.
The Lord reminds Peter -- and all of us -- that He has always known about every sin we would ever commit, and has always had a plan to pay for it: the greatest rescue mission the world would ever know: dying in our place upon a cross. Through this incomprehensible, sacrificial act of love, the sins of His children could be covered by His blood and the way made for us to return to Him, loved, forgiven and restored in an unbroken fellowship of His making, if we just believe and trust in Him.
As the song finishes, Jesus walks back, gets back up on the whipping post, and everything resumes around Him as He moves toward His goal of ultimate love: the cross.
(Matthew 26:69-75, Mark 14:66-72, Luke 22:55-62, John 18:1-18, 25-27)
I will be your Father
You will be my child
The apple of my eye
You'll be free and wild
You will break my heart
You will lose your way
But I've known all about that day
Yeah, I've known all about that day
I will give you freedom
I will let you go
Into a world gone crazy
That your enemy calls home
But in your heart a flicker
Will glow and ache for me
See, I've known all about that day
Yeah, I've known all about that day
You'll oppose me
Ignore me
And choose to go your way
Deny me
Walk by me
Put others in my place
But you are mine
See, I chose you
Before this earth I even made
See, I've known all about this day
I've known all about this day
I've known all about this...
This day

SPEND TIME WITH ME
I was considering the moments when Jesus first laid His earthly eyes upon each of those who would later become one of His disciples, when I developed a picture of Him standing upon the crest of a hill. The glow of the sun was upon His face as He watched each one of them in the distance, tending their nets or going about their daily activities. Quietly, I heard Him singing this song in His heart as He started walking down the road toward them to invite each one of them into their destiny. The words of His song echo His later conversation with his friend Martha when she, so busy with serving Him, comes to Him complaining of her sister Mary's just sitting at His feet. He tells her that her sister has chosen the "better part" -- the one that will not be taken away from her: simply spending time with Him.
(Matthew 11:28, Luke 10:41-42)
I've been longing for you
For a long, long time
Longing just to see your eyes
Looking into mine
I've been calling your heart
Have you heard mine?
Will you take the
time to learn from me?
Will you step across the line?
Slow down
Spend time with me
The world won't stop
It won't; you'll see
I am your rest
My friend, with me is where
You really long to be
Spend time with me
I've been watching you
As you live your days
Knowing what's inside your heart
As you try to find your way
Will you give it up
And follow me?
Will you spend the time at my feet?
Will you let me set you free?
Slow down
Spend time with me
The world won't stop
It won't; you'll see
I am your rest
My friend, with me is where
You really long to be
Spend time with me
Come to me
All you who are weary
And I will give you rest
You worry and you fuss
About much too much
When there's only one thing
You need
Slow down
Spend time with me
The world won't stop
It won't; you'll see
I am your rest
My friend, with me is where
You really long to be
Spend time with me
Lay down your nets
Cast fear aside
Come learn from me
My love is wide
I'll carry you
You'll trust in me
Give me your heart
Spend time
With me

LOOK TO THE LORD
I wrote this song the night Osama bin Laden issued a worldwide broadcast ordering people all over the world to kill all Americans, Jews and Christians wherever they found us. While there was a temptation to allow ourselves to become overtaken with fear, David's words from Psalm 27 remind all followers of the Lord that He is the One Who will deliver us from evil and death, that He is our protector and that He wants us to stand strong in and encouraged by this truth.
(Psalm 27:14, 27:1-3)
Look to the Lord!
Look to the Lord!
Look to the Lord!
Be strong and of good courage!
Look
to the Lord!
Look to the Lord!
Should an army besiege me
My heart will have no fear
Though war arise against me
Still I'll
be confident
Cause I look to the Lord!
Look to the Lord!
The
Lord's my light and my salvation
Whom shall I fear?
He's the stronghold
of my life
Whom shall I dread?
When evil men assail me
To
devour my flesh
It is they--my foes and enemies
Who will stumble
and fall
As I look to the Lord!
Look to the Lord!
Look
to the Lord!
Look to the Lord!
The Lord's my Light and my Salvation
Whom
shall I fear?
He's the Stronghold of my life
Whom shall
I dread?
Though evil men assail me
To devour my flesh
It is they--my foes and enemies
Who
will stumble and fall
Cause I look to the Lord!
Look to
the Lord!
Be strong and
of good courage!
Look to the Lord!

GOD IS FOR YOU
I wrote this song for every person who was ever neglected, abused, or damaged in any way as a child (in other words, most of us). We need to know that despite what we've been through, we are not "damaged goods." Instead, we are each a treasured creation of God, and He has a good plan for our life, one of hope. All we have to do is trust Him, reach out and take His hand, and He will be faithful to walk us out of our shadows and into His marvelous light.
(Romans 8:31, Zephaniah 3:17, Ephesians 2:10, Revelation 3:20, Deuteronomy 30:19, Revelation 21:21, Matthew 11:30)
Little boy, in
the dark
I know your pain
Daddy's gone
Doesn't pay you no mind
Mama's
losing her way
But I hold the Light in my hands
The Life,
the Truth, the Way
So put aside your circumstance
For I'm here to say
"You're
God's creation!
He rejoices over you with song!
So don't
be lonely
Don't be sad"
For if God is FOR you
Who can
be against you??
He's waiting for you
To recognize He's here
Jesus
is knocking
Do you hear Him call you?
He's offering you life
Will
you let Him in?
Little girl, all alone
Hiding your fears
Bearing
a secret burden
That's far beyond your years
Well, only God
can handle that load
And bear it all Himself
He has for you a road
of gold
Leave your past upon the shelf
Because you're God's creation!
He rejoices over you with song
So don't
be lonely
Don't be sad
For if God is FOR you
Who can be against
you??
He's waiting for you
To recognize He's here
Jesus is
knocking
Do you hear Him call you?
He's offering you life
Will
you let Him in?
Yes, Jesus is knocking
Do you hear Him call you?
He's
offering you life
Will you let Him in?
