A magazine art director and pro photographer, Chris first studied design and photography in the Filmic Writing Program of the USC School of Cinema-Television in Los Angeles. He went on to become Director of Photography for Beaufort, Explorer, Lowcountry Quarterly, and Select magazines; Southeast Marketing Services; and AirCam, an aerial photography company. He was Art Director for Growing in Christ—a magazine for new believers—and for seven award-winning years, Chris created promotional campaigns and marketing materials (and wrote and photographed travel articles) for Charleston, South Carolina's major daily newspaper, The Post and Courier (click here to view Chris' Post and Courier Marketing/Design/Branding portfolio).

From October 2005 through August 2008, Chris art directed the flagship magazines of South Carolina publisher Media Services, Inc.— Carolina Homes and Interiors and Coastal Condo Living (click to view online versions of Chris' work in recent issues of both magazines). Chris also art directed Media Services' Coastal Million Dollar Homes, Hot Retirement Towns, East Cooper Newcomers Guide, Summerville Newcomers Guide and JohnsIslandLiving.com magazines.
In addition to his professional work, Chris has used his art direction, marketing and photography skills to benefit those who otherwise would not have had access to such expertise. In April 2005, Chris spent two weeks documenting in photography and video the work being done at Christ's Gift Academy, a school for AIDS orphans in Mbita, Kenya, for whom he had designed their logo a few years previous. Out of that body of work, Chris produced a fundraising music video for CGA (click here to view that video), a fundraising panoramic poster, a PowerPoint presentation, business cards and postcards, and a complete DVD with an hour-long movie and slideshow. He also spent two months creating marketing materials and developing U.S. contacts for Banana of Hope—a widows' self-help group in Mbita—in order to help them sell their beautiful basketry in the U.S. and to help them raise the economic prospects for themselves and for the children under their care. Banana of Hope's 2008 Catalog (6.8 MB PDF) can be downloaded here.
